PanCeltic Race 2026 Project
2026 sees the start of a new chapter in the Pan Celtic Race, and I’m honoured to have been invited by the organisers to make a project documenting this year’s race through the experience of fellow riders. Many are drawn to ultra-distance bike racing for the challenge and to discover new horizons. For others, it’s an escape from the day-to-day (my partner is of the firm belief we’re all running away from something!). Whatever motivation brings us to the start line, spending up to two weeks riding a bike through all weathers, across thousands of kilometres, is no easy feat and leaves us all with a wealth of experiences and memories. This project aims to make a portrait of both the event and its riders through a mix of photographs and interviews, and builds on the stories told in my previous books. If you're interested in being involved, please complete the contact form below. Applications are welcome from all riders, whether you’re an experienced ultra-distance racer or not. However, I am particularly keen to hear from riders who are new to ultra-distance cycling and are taking on the PCR for the first time.
Participants will need to be willing to take part in two short online interviews before and after the event, plus be available to have a portrait taken at the sign-on in Conwy. The resulting project will be published as a book, later in 2026. For examples of previous projects, you can see a selection of images from the 2024 edition here and a project based around The Gravel Rally here. (see the Shop button for examples of previous books).
